“Mawa likes to call it bougie,” said Steve Laser, Community Engagement Manager of Boulder’s Crepe Therapy Café. Laser was handpicked by the queen of crepes herself, Mawa McQueen, to run the show at her elevated fast-casual concept.

For those in pursuit of ultra-thin pancakes, Crepe Therapy offers the holy grail — and so much more. Beyond a plethora of mouthwatering sweet and savory menu items, the space itself is undeniably welcoming. After all, Laser and his team are known for greeting each other with the phrase, “Welcome home.”

“The world feels so disconnected right now. People feel lonely. Connection is what we want to create,” Laser shared.

Offering exceptional food and beverages alone is not enough. The café is designed to feel like a “second home” — a place where people can gather, connect, and, of course, enjoy crepes.

Now, let’s discuss the crepe offerings, shall we? As one would expect from a chef of McQueen’s caliber, the versatile French favorite receives a swoon-worthy spin.

The Rocky Mountain is a savory standout, layered with ground bison, bacon, Gruyère, Swiss, arugula, tomato, onion confit, and horseradish cream. Meanwhile, the Alaskan is an undeniable crowd-pleaser featuring smoked salmon, fresh tomato, capers, pickled onion, dill cream sauce, and arugula.

“All of our ingredients are organic and locally sourced whenever possible. All flour is milled at Dry Storage, we use free-range chicken, and we even offer an entire vegan menu,” said Laser.

Signature wellness drinks incorporate ingredients inspired by McQueen’s West African roots. The Ivory Hot Cocoa is hands down the richest, most satisfying rendition of hot chocolate I have ever encountered, while the African Golden Milk feels like a good-for-you indulgence with fresh ginger root, turmeric, allspice, steamed coconut milk, and date syrup.

Despite making health-conscious adjustments to cater to the Boulder crowd, Crepe Therapy still embraces a sense of decadence with options like The Millennial — a sweet, satisfying crepe filled with fresh strawberries, banana, and Nutella.

Crepe Therapy currently operates two Boulder locations: a Boulder Junction outpost that opened last fall and a second location that recently debuted inside Limelight Boulder on University Hill.
