Yellow Scene: When did the band form, and what was the mission?

Mike Clark: We’ve been together for just over a year now, and Scott the bass player and I had met before that – we were jamming with another band. Really, the whole project was for me about getting back to a good, tight rock ‘n’ roll thing. I used to play a lot of solo acoustic and I was bored with that, I wanted to get back to playing with an actual electric band.

YS: Describe the sound…

MC: I would describe it as influenced by classic American rock ‘n’ roll, somewhere between garage punk and a little bit of Americana.

YS: Have you played UMS before?

MC: I haven’t played before. This is the first time we’ll be playing. But I’ve been to a couple of UMS, just as a spectator, and I’ve always had a blast.

YS: What do you think of the current state of the Denver scene?

MC: I’m not really an expert on it, but I go to a lot of shows here on top of gigging, and I think there’s a lot of great music here. I just feel like it’s more of a tight-knit community than a lot of places I’ve lived.

YS: What can we expect from the set?

MC: That’s a good question. It’s going to be a good, tight set with a little bit of noise in there and catchy songs, and we might even throw a cover or two that you might recognize in there.
