Press releases are provided to Yellow Scene Magazine. In an effort to keep our community informed, we publish some press releases in whole.

Following the completion of both the expansion and the renovations at Town Hall, staff will host a ribbon cutting and open house for the public. No RSVP is necessary. Regularly scheduled advisory board meeting for the Tree Board will take place following the event if any members of the public wish to listen in and participate.

When: Wednesday, Jan. 14 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Where: Ribbon cutting at front entrance, corner of Holbrook and Wells streets

Agenda:

4:30 p.m. | Remarks from leadership & partners

5-6:30 p.m. | Open House – public can view the building and meet with staff

5:30 p.m. | Time capsule burial ceremony (center of building near Coal Miner statue)

Attendees can walk through the Town Hall building and chat with staff from all Town departments. Informational boards with before and after photos as well as historic photos from the building will be on display. Light refreshments and small giveaways will be available.

The time capsule will be buried, and visitors can watch the lowering outside, or from interior windows if weather is unfavorable. Items inside the time capsule were collected over the course of 2024 and the Town of Erie’s Sesquicentennial Celebrations. Some of the items saved for inclusion include notes from residents, a copy of the Town Charter, municipal records from the last 150 years, a book of drawings from local children who imagined Erie of the future, and more.
