1. Our Favorite Time of Year
You can almost smell the change in the air. It’s spring and fresh fruits and veggies are just around the corner—as are farmers’ markets. The Boulder County Farmers’ Market in Boulder opens at its Central Park location on April 5 (Saturdays only until May), offering all of the favorite locally grown veggies, fruits, flowers, cheeses and more. The goodies will just get better and better with each week. The Longmont version (at the Boulder County Fairgrounds) begins May 3.

2. Taste of Alba
One of our favorite regions of Italy, is the northwestern wine capitol of Alba. It’s home to the great Barolo wines and tasty truffles. Needless to say, anytime a restaurant names itself after something in relation to this pristine wine country, our interest is piqued (Denver’s Barolo, for example). Last summer, Alba Risotrante opened in the Boulder plaza that is home to McGuckin. Rave reviews have followed. But it’s not all about Alba—check out the monthly regional wine dinners for Italian inspiration from all over. This month, Alba features Natale di Roma, a dinner and tasting revolving around our second favorite region of Italy. For information on the April 23 dinner, call Alba, 2480 Canyon Blvd., 303.930.8800.

3. Herding the Khow Back to Boulder
It’s always a tricky endeavor, trying to open a restaurant in the North Metro suburbs. Khow Thai certainly found that out, opening a Broomfield off shoot of its popular Boulder restaurant a little more than a year ago. Despite winning accolades and awards at the new locale, Khow Thai closed its Broomfield location last month. The tasty Thai joint was done in by the low foot traffic that came with being buried underneath the Highway 36/287 interchange. If you still need a fix, visit the original in Boulder, 1600 Broadway St. Call 303.447.0273 for information.
