There’s Diamonds in These Hills

Think Africa has diamonds? Phff, those mining outfits have nothing on an area just outside of Fort Collins. DiamonEx wants to mine the hills of North Rabbit Creek Valley, estimating the three-acre site could yield hundreds of thousands of diamonds. Despite the bling, residents aren’t keen about the prospect. They don’t really want an open pit mine as a neighbor for the next few decades. Residents have formed a nonprofit, Leave Our Valley Alone Forever, to fight the prospective mining operation.

[What’s Next] It may be a tough fight for a small nonprofit to overcome a major diamond group excited by the prospect of diamonds—not too mention, dollars.
