Doyle is the name of the new band featuring Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, formerly of veteran horror punks the Misfits. They play the Marquis Theatre this month, so we chatted with the man himself…D

Yellow Scene: You’ve played with so many great musicians – how does your current band rate?

Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein: The drummer is the best I’ve played with, and I put Alex Story right up there with Glenn [Danzig, Misfits]. He’s as good or better a songwriter, a great frontman and a great singer.

YS: The reviews for Abominator have been great. How do you think it sits alongside your back-catalog?

DWvF: I think it’s the best thing I’ve done, actually. We’ve got a new one coming out next year. We recorded them at the same time.

YS: Do you like playing Colorado?

DWvF: I always like Colorado. The air is definitely thinner there and you can really feel it.

YS: What can we expect from the set?

DWvF: Just brutality, man. We “f” s**t up.

YS: When the tour’s over, what’s next?

DWvF: We’ll mix and master the record. It’ll be Christmas, so some family time. Maybe I’ll go to Europe on tour with my girlfriend for a little while.

Doyle plays with Lotus Gait, Throttlebomb, and Straight Outta Luck at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 19 at the Marquis Theatre; 2009 Larimer St., Denver; 303-487-0111; $14-$16.
