Boulder banned flavored e-cigarettes. The city finalized plans for new restrictions on e-cigarettes. Stores can no longer sell flavored e-cigarette juice. In addition, Boulder wants to use a ballot measure in November to increase taxes on legal e-cigarette products by 40 percent. Boulder also increased the legal age to purchase nicotine or tobacco products to 21. * Guests secretly filmed showering in Boulder home. Former Coors Classic Director Micahel Aisner has been accused of filming his guests showering at his home, likely for sexual gratification. That makes us feel dirty all over again. * Boulder settles plans for affordable housing project. Boulder Housing Partners will build over 100 permanently affordable units for those with low income in need of housing. Other builders will build an additional 100 plus market-rate condos. * CU Boulder student arrested for sex assult charges. Connor Shaver, 21, was arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman three times in her sleep. * Boulder woman is the first American to qualify for climbing in the Olympics. As one of only 20 women and 40 people total worldwide allowed to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic climbing event, Brooke Raboutou makes history. * Judge reopens fracking ban case in Longmont. Longmont voters had banned fracking in the city, but in 2016 the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that the ban conflicted with the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Act. A Boulder District Court judge reopened the case, brought on behalf of residents by Colorado Rising. * Fluoride shortages in Longmont water. Longmont temporarily stopped adding fluoride to its water. The Centers for Disease Control recommends 0.7 milliliters of the cavity-preventing mineral per liter of water. * Boulder County youth join global climate strike. Initiated by Greta Thunberg, the Global Climate Strike occurred at the end of September, just before the UN Climate Action Summit, with youth participating all across Boulder County and an estimated 4 million worldwide.

Small Talk

“I’m here in Denver asking your support for something more than just defeating Trump… I’m asking you to work with me to help transform this county and create an economy and a government that works for all of us, not just the one percent.”

-Bernie Sanders, Denver Rally

“I ran for president because this country is being ripped apart by politics and partisan games while our biggest problems go unsolved. Now today, I’m ending my campaign for president, but I will never stop believing that America can only move forward when we work together.”

John Hickenlooper, Former Governor of Colorado

“I thought with where we are, what Vic had done and ultimately getting back to discipline and taking care of the little things and the details were the most important things; Vic was a good fit. I thought he was exactly what we needed.”

John Elway, Broncos General Manager

“I would love to have your help. If you want to sit down with us and talk about the kind of weapons that are going to be important to be regulated, I am here with you and want to listen to you.”

Beto O’Rourke, Aurora Town Hall
