Boulder, CO – The Dairy Arts Center’s new Musical Vanguards Concert Series continues with Miss Mojo on Saturday, August 13, The band’s signature blend of modern soul mixed with the rhythms of New Orleans funk culminates in smooth and soulful original music, and Emmaline on Thursday, August 18 — a 24-year-old vocalist, violinist, and songwriter who captivates the hearts of all who hear her smoky, jazz-infused, genre-fluid voice.

“We are excited to bring back to Boulder the high-energy band and audience favorite Miss Mojo, and proud to coordinate with Jazz Aspen Snowmass to bring up-and-coming jazz super-star Emmaline to the Dairy for her Boulder debut. For all you music lovers of any genre, these concerts are a must-see, must-hear. The intimacy of our venue is a concert experience that is hard to find anywhere else.” says Dairy’s Director of Programs, Glenn Webb

Being a family comes before being a band for Miss Mojo. That’s the blueprint of their carefree music – knowing that friendships are never in jeopardy. Two years into the pandemic, and a handful of cancellations, postponements, and disappointments later, these ties are stronger than ever, and the band’s patience has paid off with Horizon – Miss Mojo’s 2022 record release. Horizon showcases the shining vocals of Piper Browne & Jenna Winston with a mix of inspired introspection and much-needed feel-good tunes. The record is produced by Miss Mojo’s Grammy-winning producer and drummer Mack Major, and shaped as a singular listening experience. Horizon is nothing if not honest and original – and is Miss Mojo’s most thoughtful and ambitious project to date.

The record is a mosaic of New Orleans’ art community, with recordings from 4 different studios, and visuals from various local collaborators. Horizon will be the first Miss Mojo pressed on vinyl – done by New Orleans Record Press. In 2022, Miss Mojo will be celebrating Horizon with a series of performances from New Orleans to Colorado to New York and beyond. Miss Mojo has been making music together since 2016, and has performed with some of New Orleans’ most iconic contemporary acts.

Though still in the early stages of her blossoming career, 23-year-old vocalist, violinist and songwriter, Emmaline, makes her Boulder debut at the Dairy Arts Center on Thursday, August 18, 2022. She has accomplished an impressive laundry list of achievements from being featured in top music publications such as Rolling Stone and American Songwriter to performing as the opening act for 10-time-GRAMMY winner Chaka Khan on her first ever US tour, this Cincinnati-based, independent artist captivates the hearts of all who hear her smoky, jazz-infused, genre-fluid voice.

Using the power of social media, Emmaline kick-started her career in 2018 by sharing acoustic covers of popular songs and original material on her social media platforms (@emmalineofficial) where she now boasts nearly 500k followers. Emmaline shines on stage whether it be online or in person, and has performed countless sold-out shows at some of the country’s most notable jazz clubs and music venues: The Jazz Standard (New York, NY), Scullers (Boston, MA), Eddie’s Attic (Atlanta, GA), City Winery (Nashville, TN), Blues Alley (Washington D.C.) and many more.

Her independently released EPs, “All My Sweetest Dreams” and “Necessity” have organically generated well over 1 million streams on Spotify alone and have listeners on the edge of their seats awaiting a debut album drop.

As part of its mission to provide quality arts experiences for Boulder, the Dairy Arts Center launched the Musical Vanguards Concert Series. For several years the Dairy has curated the best live music from local and Colorado artists, with just the occasional touring artists. This new series is a concerted effort to bring musicians who are leaders in music performance within their genres and often beyond genres.
