Boulder County, Colorado, June 30, 2023
There will be a community rally responding to the Creative 303 Decision today at 6PM today in Roosevelt Park in Longmont during the Longmont Pride Festival that is open to the press. Local experts and elected officials including legal expert Jean Dubofsky, Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty, Representative Brianna Titone, Boulder County NAACP President Annett James, Senior Director of Policy Programs at Boulder Chamber Jonathan Singer, and Boulder Mayor Aaron Brockett, and Longmont Mayor Joan Peck. They will be available for comment after the rally.

“If you have never watched your rights be taken away on television, you cannot begin to understand how LGBTQ+ people are feeling today. Today’s Creative 303 decision does not include a clearly defined legal limiting principle, the Supreme Court of the United States, in a 6-3 ruling, granted the right to some businesses to discriminate against a legally protected class of people for the first time in our history. This opinion is unclear, unsound, and may have an immense impact on the rights of all members of protected classes including LGBTQ+ people. The implications and parameters of this decision will be worked through the legal system for years to come, but we know that today, it allows discrimination against protected classes, including LGBTQ+ people.”
