Boulder County, CO – Blue Sky Bridge is joining organizations and communities across the state this April in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, emphasizing the importance of healthy communities and ensuring families have the support they need before challenges become crises.

Prevention is Possible

Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment. Unfortunately, in the United States, one in ten children will experience abuse or neglect before their 18th birthday.

Research shows that open conversations with trusted adults about body safety improve outcomes for children and teens. Together we can create a community of safe adults who make a difference in the lives of children by prioritizing prevention and support.

Although child abuse can be a difficult topic, it is essential to raise awareness in order to drive meaningful change. Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty’s office works directly with Blue Sky Bridge regarding child abuse allegations. He comments: “Our country continues to see far too many incidents of child abuse and sexual assault. Boulder County is no different from other communities when it comes to child abuse. But what’s exceptional about Boulder County is what we are doing– especially through Blue Sky Bridge. We are fortunate to work with such an amazing non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of child sexual assault cases. And, when cases occur, we work together to make sure that there are serious consequences for those responsible.”
