FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
6/27/25

BOULDER, CO- Today, the United States Supreme Court issued its opinion in Kennedy v. Braidwood Management, preserving low- or no-cost access to critical, life-saving preventive healthcare—including PrEP, contraception, HPV vaccines, and cancer screenings—to continue for millions of Americans.

In response to the ruling, Bruce Parker, Chief Operating Officer at Rocky Mountain Equality, said:

We are relieved that the authority of federal health agencies to mandate no-cost preventive care remains intact, and we urge policymakers and officials to continue defending these essential protections from future attacks. We know from decades of research and lived experience that even small costs lead to significant drops in PrEP access. PrEP is 99% effective in preventing the transfer of HIV when taken as prescribed.

However, this case makes something painfully clear. Our healthcare and our lives are under threat from coordinated, well-funded efforts to undermine LGBTQ rights and public health under the guise of religious freedom. Rocky Mountain Equality will continue to fight for the right of every person to access the care they need, without cost barriers or discrimination, right here in Colorado and across the country.

Our community deserves care. Our community deserves protection. And we will never stop fighting for both.
