Boulder International Film Festival Announces 2026 Program, Launches Ticket Sales for April Festival

Highlights include key premieres and an on-stage interview with actor Alec Baldwin

BOULDER, CO (March 13, 2026) — Today, the Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF) announces the full film program and schedule for the 22nd annual festival this April 9 to 12 in Boulder, Colorado, featuring 68 films from 29 countries, 31 Colorado premieres, a visit with Alec Baldwin, and the return of many festival favorites.

BIFF’s lineup this year features approximately 50 attending filmmakers, including at least 20 from Colorado. The full program is here. Select films in the 2026 BIFF program will be available to watch on the “BIFF at Home!” virtual platform starting April 13.

This year’s ticketed programs include:

CineCHEF 2026 — CineCHEF returns on Thursday, April 9, with a friendly competition between award-winning “badass women chefs” from Colorado who will create dishes inspired by their favorite films. CineCHEF also includes live music, drinks, and dessert. A line-up of participating chefs and additional details are at biff1.com/cinechef.

Opening Night Red Carpet Gala and Film — Opening Night is Friday, April 10, and begins with two parties, one at the Hotel Boulderado and another at Rembrandt Yard, both from 5 to 6:45 p.m., featuring live music, food, and drinks. At 6:45 p.m., a brass band will lead attendees “second line” style from the parties to the Boulder Theater for a 7:15 p.m. screening of Tuner, from Black Bear, starring Leo Woodall and Dustin Hoffman. An Evening with Alec Baldwin — The incomparable Scott Feinberg of The Hollywood Reporter returns for a special live podcast recording and interview of award-winning actor and BIFF alumnus Alec Baldwin, for Feinberg’s Awards Chatter podcast, on Saturday, April 11, at 7:45 p.m. Baldwin will also conduct interviews with a small number of filmmakers following their film screenings.

Adventure Film Program Opening Night — BIFF’s beloved Adventure Film Program includes a special Opening Night pre-release screening of the first two episodes of the new HBO series The Dark Wizard, by Peter Mortimer and Nick Rosen of Boulder’s Sender Films, on Friday, April 10, at 7 p.m.. Episodes 3 and 4 screen Saturday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m.

Closing Night Film and Awards Ceremony — Closing Night at BIFF takes place on Sunday, April 12, and includes a screening of You Had to Be There, a film about the legendary 1972 Toronto production of Godspell, an event that launched a comedy revolution and the careers of comedy legends including Martin Short, Eugene Levy, and Gilda Radner. Other highlights of BIFF include:

•The Colorado premiere of Power Ballad, starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, from writer-director John Carney (Sing Street, Once), a feel-good story about music, self-respect, friendship, and the price of ambition, courtesy of Lionsgate

•The Colorado premiere of Los Lobos Native Sons, the official Los Lobos documentary by Doug Blush and Piero F. Giunti, which features unprecedented and exclusive footage and offers an intimate and exhilarating look inside this uniquely American band

•The Colorado premiere of The Christophers, directed by Steven Soderbergh, starring Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel, about the children of a once-famous artist who hire a forger to complete some unfinished, long-abandoned canvases so they’ll have an inheritance when he dies

•The Colorado premiere of The Trial of Alec Baldwin, a documentary by award-winning filmmaker Rory Kennedy

The BIFF Singer/Songwriter Showcase, with free live music at the Velvet Elk Lounge, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, and from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 11

The BIFF Youth Programs, which begin on Thursday, April 9, with the Teen Short Film Competition screening and awards, and continue with free film screenings and workshops that include a Hollywood screenwriter, two guests from the Sundance Institute, and a filmmakers panel; free for students with registration

The Adventure Film Program, featuring thrilling adventure films; discussions with filmmakers, nonprofit leaders, and world-class adventurers; four Call2Action panel discussions; and more than 30 filmmakers, producers, and subjects in attendance
