Coal Creek Meals on Wheels (CCMOW) has expanded its Grab & Go meal program into Broomfield through a new partnership with Broomfield FISH, increasing access to nutritious prepared meals for community members experiencing food insecurity and other hardships.

CCMOW began providing 20 refrigerated meals per week to Broomfield FISH in March 2026. As of May 1, the organization now delivers 50 refrigerated meals each week across two distribution days — once during senior shopping day and again during a time dedicated to helping seniors access additional community resources.

This project was designed to increase access to nutritious meals for individuals and families who may not qualify for or choose not to enroll in CCMOW’s traditional home-delivered meals program. Grab & Go sites allow anyone in need of a fresh, ready-to-eat meal to participate without requirements for proof of residency, age, or income. Target demographics include older adults, individuals with disabilities, low-income families, and people experiencing food and/or housing insecurity.

“The Broomfield Community Foundation believes strong communities are built through collaboration. Coal Creek Meals on Wheels is creating a compassionate, low-barrier solution that helps ensure neighbors experiencing food insecurity, isolation, or hardship can access nutritious meals with dignity and care,” said Dion West, Executive Director of the Broomfield Community Foundation.

The new Broomfield location complements Coal Creek Meals on Wheels’ existing Grab & Go sites at the Lafayette Public Library, Sister Carmen Community Center, and the Erie Food Bank, expanding CCMOW’s proven model into another neighboring community.

“For more than 50 years, Coal Creek Meals on Wheels has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting community members through nutritious meals and meaningful social connection. Their proven track record and strong volunteer network position them well to successfully expand this impactful model into Broomfield,” said Dion West, Executive Director of the Broomfield Community Foundation.

“FISH Participants are very grateful for this new partnership and are looking forward to the variety of new food options,” said Tangi Lancaster, Bilingual Participant Programs Advocate at Broomfield FISH.

Coal Creek Meals on Wheels continues to explore innovative ways to address food insecurity and social isolation across Boulder and Broomfield counties, ensuring that more community members have access to healthy meals and supportive services.
