The New Local Presents Downtown First Fridays

BOULDER, Colo. — The New Local (TNL), a nonprofit gallery championing female and non-binary artists, designers, and makers, invites the community to Downtown First Fridays, a monthly art walk celebrating Boulder’s thriving creative spirit through galleries, small businesses, and public art activations along Pearl Street and beyond.

Downtown First Fridays begin at the TNL Annex on the west end of Pearl Street, with stops at TNL’s headquarters, where Women of the Living West, a juried group exhibition sponsored by the American 250 – Colorado 150 Commission, will open the evening. Set in an iconic historic landmark in the heart of downtown Boulder, the exhibition features local women artists and makers whose work reflects the innovation and creativity shaping Colorado today.

Attendees can pick up a map and head east to explore rotating exhibitions, art activations, and live performances hosted by participating galleries and businesses throughout downtown Boulder. Past activations have included custom hat steaming and shaping at Boulder Brim, an open mic night at Velvet Elk Lounge, permanent jewelry at Bohemi, and other creative collaborations unique to Boulder.

Downtown First Fridays take place on the first Friday of every month through September and are free and open to the public. Maps highlighting participating locations will be available at the TNL Annex and other stops along the route.
