A brief chat with Orgy

Jay Gordon of industrial rockers Orgy is not a chatty guy. The softly-spoken frontman is pleasant, friendly even, but not entirely forthcoming with the verbiage. Gordon has had to fight former band mates for the use of the name Orgy, but he’s still standing and the band is playing the Marquis Theatre on March 25.J

Yellow Scene: After all the turmoil over the name, is Orgy ready to move forward?

Jay Gordon: Yeah. There was no court involved or anything, so I’m good to go.

YS: It’s been a while since the last full-length album, although last year’s EP was close to it. Do you have new material in the works?

JG: Yeah, it’s done.

YS: Do you like playing Colorado?

JG: Colorado is a great place. We’ve had some good shows there.

YS: What can we expect from the set?

JG: A bunch of new music, really. We have good openers, so it should be a really good show.

YS: What’s next after this tour?

JG: We’re planning on doing Europe again, and things like that. Plus we have another EP that we’re gonna put out four or five months down the road from this one. I’m still DJ and that stuff too.

Orgy plays with 9ELECTRIC, Death Valley High, Dr. Death + Mr. Vile at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 at the Marquis Theatre; 2009 Larimer St., Denver; 303-487-0111; $14-$16.
