Halloween isn’t just about candy and kids. Many adults celebrate this holiday with spooktacular creativity. There are zombie pub crawls, costume contests galore and plenty of parties after dark. You can also make marijuana a major motif in your magic and mayhem, if you so choose.  Check out these ways you can add some green to your orange and black this Hallo-weed.

First things first, dressing up! You can’t celebrate Halloween without a costume. Classic cannabis costumes like rastafarian, hippie or Cheech and Chong imply marijuana advocate, but this is a new age. Less conspicuous choices include putting a planter pot on your head to be a “Pothead,” or a bag of yard clippings across your chest to be a “Bag of Weed”.

If you want to take it to another level, you can dress as your favorite cannabis strain. Leafly’s Sara Dilley presented some costumes inspired by cannabis strain names, like Agent Orange (worn by Richard Maloney), Grandaddy Purple (worn by Sam Borgen), and White Widow (worn by Kelsey Howell).

A good holiday celebration will always include food, especially if you have the munchies. Adding some weed-infused edibles to your Halloween may be just the treat you need. Check out The Cannabist (http://dpo.st/2xLFUSK) holiday infused recipe archive for ideas, or come up with your own recipes! *Remember: One of the primary rules of making marijuana edibles for parties is to keep dosages weak or, alternatively, only medicate one recipe.* Check out the following recipes, some of my favorites.

Infused White Chocolate Ghosts Recipe

Makes about 8-10 ghosts.

Ingredients

1 cup white chocolate chips or melts

2 tablespoons canna-butter

Raisins or similar eye-shaped food

Instructions

1. In a double boiler melt the white chocolate with the canna-butter, stirring to mix thoroughly.

2. Lay parchment paper on a baking sheet. Spoon the white chocolate on the parchment, spreading it to form a ghostlike form. Ghosts come in all shapes and sizes so don’t worry about your shapes.

3. While the chocolate is still soft, add the raisins or similar for eyes and a mouth. Raisins work well because you can manipulate the shapes.

4. Place the ghosts in the fridge to set.

Instead of throwing out all those seeds from your carved pumpkins, you can roast them with oil and seasoning. Make these medicated by using cannabis-infused oil.

If you’re going to get into the full spirit of the holiday, try one of these ghostly strains for your haunted high! The spookiest choo-choo of them all, Ghost Train Haze – energizing creativity and concentration with guaranteed giggles but higher doses may leave smokers feeling a little hazy. If you need an imagination boost for some scary stories, or if you expect a long night of tomfoolery, Ghost Train Haze is a great choice. In 2015, its #13 phenotype placed as the number one sativa in the US at the Cannabis Cup, while the original took home Best Colorado Sativa.

When you’re ready to wind down for the evening some Ghost OG brings about a sleepy bliss. Ghost OG is a phenotype of the legendary OG Kush strain and is predominantly indica. This strain provides some top-notch physical effects. Expect your limbs to grow heavy and limber and feel muscle tension evaporate into thin air.

However you celebrate the holiday this time around – remember to be safe, responsible and
SPOOKY!
