If it wasn’t bad enough that dozens of counties in Colorado are left scrambling to figure out how to hold elections come August and November, the man in charge of certifying the vote counting machines is being accused of criminal acts. Voting activists are claiming Secretary of State Mike Coffman is moving toward certifying electronic voting machines that have failed his initial check without following the steps laid out in the law. Coffman’s camp told the Rocky Mountain News that he has followed the law in all instances.
What’s Next: Coffman’s legacy is on the line and it looks like state lawmakers are poised to approve paper ballots—county clerks are frightened.
