Don’t let some of the vacant storefronts fool you, there are plenty of dining, shopping and entertainment options on Main. We had to whittle our list from more than 20 unique businesses. This was not an easy month.

1. Terroir New American Cuisine
If you haven’t checked out this eatery featuring local and organic cuisine, hurry up. It’s an early frontrunner for Best New Restaurant and Best Overall Restaurant in next year’s Best of the West. Try getting a table then. 246 Main St., 303.682.9980

2. Used Book Emporium
The economy is tanking, meaning you can’t afford that new flat screen let alone a $30 hard cover book. Don’t let your summer reading take the fall: Check out the Emporium’s generous trade-in program by exchanging those books collecting dust for something new to you. 346 Main St., 303.776.6561

3. Adorn Home & Gift Gallery
When you are looking to add a warm touch to your home, here’s a hint on where to begin: a block off Main Street there is a creative boutique featuring an assortment of unique décor items. And handbags. And gift ideas. And, you get the point. 668 4th Ave., 303.651.6933

4. Longmont Performing Arts Center
What’s a downtown experience without a little culture? The Longmont Theatre Company just celebrated 50 years and has a busy slate of summer performances to hold you over until the 2008-09 season begins in September. 513 Main St., 303.772.5200

5. Flavor of India
Much has already been written about flavor (full disclosure: the rave reviews have come from us). We are still enamored so we figured a reminder that this is the best Indian in Yellow Scene territory couldn’t hurt. Don’t miss the veggie somosas. 516 Main St., 303.682.9010

6. Pumphouse Brewery
On a scorching hot day, little refreshes more than a cold Wildfire Wheat. Well other than drinking that pint on the Pumphouse’s expansive Main Street facing patio and laughing at anyone passing by who still appears to be on the clock. 540 Main St., 303.702.0881

Also: Make your feet happy at Browns Shoe Fit Co. (303.776.2920), caffeinate and discuss Longmont politics at Ziggy’s Coffee (303.682.5120), find out why Cajuns eat so much at Lucile’s (303.774.9814 ), and buy some pop culture at Madifine Mercantile (720.436.3308).
