So we were wrong last month when we thought a garbage flap in Superior would just blow over. It turns out that the residents who were upset over the city awarding a single contract to one trash service provider that the deal stunk enough to call for change. A petition has been filed to recall Mayor Pro-tem Lisa Skumatz, Eric Rosenfeld and Dana D’Souza. Those three were instrumental in cutting a deal to have Waste Connections service the city’s trash needs. The city promoted the deal as a way to increase recycling while saving residents money. Many thought the city didn’t get a competitive deal—noting that Waste Connections already services the Rock Creek subdivision giving them better service for about the same cost.
[What’s Next] If enough residents sign the petition, voters can boot these three from office.
