Picked in our Best of the West as showing stellar small town pride, the Erie Town Fair is a favorite for families living east of 287. And on May 21, the East County community will once again celebrate with hot-air balloons, food, bands and lots of community spirit.

For the 15th year in a row, dozens of booths will be set up in the heart of Erie, highlighting savory foods and unique crafts that lure in more than just the surrounding town folk.

Not only will the food leave visitors and regulars’ stomachs fat and satisfied, the private hot air balloon ride at dawn will take them sailing through beautiful skies with oranges and yellows splashing the mountaintops and beautiful planes of Colorado.

The fair will take place on Briggs, Wells, Moffat and Katrell streets, capturing the town’s quaint and cultured downtown scene. Musical performances, including “On Stage,” will perform during the festivities, creating a whimsical ambience in lieu of the high spirited folk that make the town so memorable.

Kids’ activities and carnival games will be held in Coal Creek Park, where there will also be blow-up entertainment, including a rock wall, throughout the day.

The festivities will take place from 10am to 4pm, while the hot air balloon rides will launch at 6 am and 6 pm.
