Gravity Brewing

When craft beer drinkers screamed and clamored for high alcohol, extreme beers, Gravity Brewing in Louisville answered, and if their beers serve as evidence, Gravity’s brewers must be very good listeners – with ten plus beers on tap, you’re likely to only find two that fall below 6.5% alcohol by volume  (ABV). As John Frazee, one of the three owners of Gravity, sums it up, “We basically wanted to brew high gravity beers, the kind of beers the three of us love, with hopes that the consumers would like them as well.” Based on the packed taproom and jolly laughs shared throughout the brewery, it seems as though Gravity definitely has their finger on the pulse of craft beer.

Gravity plays host to a wide variety of customers. Neighborhood regulars. Families stopping in for lunch served from the next-door American Legion’s kitchen. Add the picnic table-lined patio, ping-pong and pool tables, there’s no limit on ways to enjoy yourself while visiting Louisville’s first microbrewery.

Said Frazee, “If you look at the demographics,” according to the Boulder-based Brewers Association, “Louisville is the perfect location for a craft brewery.” He continued, “We see a lot of new faces here, people really excited to drink local beer.” In this case, what’s good for business seems to be equally good for those lucky enough to stroll through Gravity’s doors – just make sure to keep an eye on the alcohol content!

GREAT FOR: Enjoying the sunshine. This June, hopefully, Gravity will make the back lawn area a full-sized beer garden.
