Greta Van Fleet came almost out of nowhere. The product of college buddies and some friends making music in a dorm room, Greta Van Fleet is an American rock band from Frankenmuth, Michigan, formed in 2012. It consists of vocalist Josh Kiszka, guitarist Jake Kiszka, bassist Sam Kiszka, (notice the three last names are the same? Family efforts) and drummer Danny Wagner. They were signed to Lava Records in March 2017 and a month later the band released their debut studio EP, Black Smoke Rising.

GVF performed their EP at the Fillmore in Denver on Saturday, September 29 and Monday October 1st. We popped in to listen to the incredibly popular and incredibly young group and, truthfully, foundo ourselves blown away. Most of the anticipation from that tour was based on hype from their SXSW performance in Austin at the 2018 event and the anticipation of their first full studio release. Anthem of the Peaceful Army dropped October 19th and you should definitely check it out.

For now, here’s some pictures we took at their Fillmore show. Epic times. make sure to follow Yellow Scene on twitter at @yelloscenemag and track our hashtags to stay up on our music adventures. #YSMusic #YSadventures
