The Pearl Street Arts Fest Returns to Downtown Boulder July 15

Boulder, CO – Back after a two-year hiatus, the 2022 Pearl Street Arts Fest kicks off with a 14th Street Artist Preview on Friday, July 15 from 3 – 8 pm and continues with the full program on Saturday, July 16 from 10 am – 7 pm and Sunday, July 17 from 10 am – 5 pm. Over 90 artists will travel from all over Colorado, plus 19 other U.S. states and Canada, to exhibit and sell pieces.

This year’s festival will be judged by a panel of local artists, including Adderly Grant-Lord, Joseph Jimenez and Tyrell Osborn. The panel will be awarding awards for Best of Show, Best 2D and Best 3D. Attendees will be able to peruse a wide variety of art mediums including: sculptures, upcycled materials, handcrafted wood, furniture, paintings in acrylic, oil and watercolors, ceramics, jewelry, photography and glass in styles ranging from abstract to impressionistic and functional to decorative. In addition to artisan booths, Open Studios Mobile Art Lab will bring on-site art instruction and inspiration to students of all ages at the art activity tent Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 3 pm on the Courthouse Lawn. On Saturday, head to the 1300 block from 11 am – 6 pm to watch a live art demo from Boulder-based artist, Lio Bumba (courtesy of the Boulder County Arts Alliance art residency pilot program).

“The Pearl Street Arts Fest has been a downtown tradition since 1978 – and remains one of the oldest arts festivals in the state,” said Anna Salim, VP of Events & Membership for Downtown Boulder. “We are thrilled to bring it back for the 42nd year to share this incredible art with the community.”

This year’s commemorative poster is titled Camper Life in the Aspens by Jenny Christiansen and Mike Ryan. Limited edition prints in 8 x 10 ($22) and 16 x 20 ($40) will be on sale at the Downtown Boulder Visitor Information Center (1303 Pearl Street) and Art Source International (1237 Pearl Street).

While downtown, explore the over two dozen arts and crafts galleries that call Boulder home as well as the Boulder Alley Gallery. The alley project re-purposes back-of-building doors into an outdoor artist gallery featuring the works of local talent. Admission to the festival itself is free. Every Saturday and Sunday, City of Boulder Parking Garages are also free. Pearl Street Arts Fest is produced by Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives (DBCI). It is sponsored by the Boulder Convention & Visitors Bureau, Capital One Cafe, City of Boulder, Create Boulder, The Daily Camera, Eco-Products and Eldorado Natural Spring Water.
