February 26, 5 pm, Boulder Meadows Library – Boulder DSA, in partnership with Working Films, invites community members to a free screening of Partners. The film shares the story of how a group of baristas in Buffalo, New York, formed a labor union and are now fighting an elaborate and illegal anti-union campaign by Starbucks. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with baristas from the Lafayette Starbucks, which has been on strike since November 13th, 2025.

Free pizza will be provided! Please RSVP here.

In 2020, a group of “Inside Organizers” in Buffalo, New York, got jobs at Starbucks with the intention of starting a union. Baristas across Buffalo quickly joined the cause. Starbucks caught on and immediately stormed the market with over 100 specially-trained corporate executives and managers from across the country. An elaborate anti-union campaign has ensued, which the federal government has found to be the most illegal attack on organizing workers’ rights in modern United States history. Drawing from on-the-ground footage captured by workers and organizers, Partners takes us to the front lines of the labor campaign that inspired over 11,000 Starbucks workers across the country to organize.

Join us for this free screening and discussion to explore a historic union fight and what it teaches us about organizing for workers’ rights today, from coffee shops to classrooms to warehouses.

The Partners screening and discussion will run from 5 pm to 6:30 pm on February 26th.

The event is sponsored by Boulder Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and the Boulder Area Labor Council (BALC).
