Colorado Dragon Boat Film Festival, Mar. 20–22

Colorado Dragon Boat’s annual film festival returns with a weekend full of celebration of Asian and Asian American films and shorts. This festival has a bit of something for everyone, from the animated action film “The Girl Who Stole Time” to the biographical docudrama “Centerpiece: Climbing for Life” to the crime drama “Forge.” The festival also offers the opportunity to sit in on artist panels, experience AANHPI cuisine, and support a marketplace of local businesses.

Albert Chong Artist Talk, Mar. 20

Boulder’s East Window and Gallery hosts Albert Chong’s artist talk. Chong showcases his art series “Jamaican Portraits,” in which he photographs the people of his home country. Chong, a child of Chinese and Afro-Jamaican parents, discusses the way that his unique cultural background shapes his art. Chong’s works are featured at Museums all around the world, including right here in Boulder. Come by East Window and Gallery this Friday for insight from the artist himself.

Shadowgrass at Fox Theater Boulder, Mar. 20

A decade into playing together in Virginia, Shadowgrass arrives at the Fox Theatre with a sound that has outgrown their bluegrass roots without abandoning them. The quintet, made up of childhood friends, leans into tight instrumental interplay, layered with a more expansive, songwriter-driven approach. The night is guaranteed to bring amazing chemistry and precision to the intimate energy of the Fox Theater.

Bonsai and Brews, Mar. 21st

Interested in the ancient art of bonsai? Wish you had a beer or two while learning this form of art? Come down to 4 Noses Brewery in Broomfield to learn to pot, shear, grow, and nurture your very own bonsai tree. With materials provided by Branch and Bloom Bonsai, this one-of-a-kind experience is the perfect night out with friends. This is just one of many events of its type that Branch and Bloom Bonsai is hosting. Tickets are $75 each, and they sell out fast, so be sure to grab them when you can!

COmpass REsonance: Norwegian Wood, Mar. 21

Looking for a unique musical experience this weekend? COmpass REsonance: Norwegian Wood brings Nordic-inspired storytelling to life through powerful chamber music. Featuring works by Edvard Grieg and Jean Sibelius alongside J.S. Bach and a creative take on The Beatles’ “Norwegian Wood,” the performance explores themes of nature and emotion. Held in the intimate Gordon Gamm Theater, this season finale offers an immersive and dynamic concert experience.

Astronomy Night at Sandstone Ranch in Longmont, Mar. 21

The Sandstone Ranch in Longmont hosts an astronomy night from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21. The evening will kick off with an indoor solar system presentation led by the Longmont Astronomical Society, then telescopes will be available for an exploration of the vast night sky. This event is free and open to all ages.

The Floozies, Mission Ballroom, Mar. 21st

Brothers Mark and Matt Hill create the duo that brings the electric-funk powerhouse to life. The Floozies use talkbox textures, synth, and bass-heavy beats to create a unique feel-good rhythm that is equal parts musicianship and momentum. Their new album, Pandemonium, was released on March 13th and can be experienced at Mission Ballroom on their tour Mission Trip 3.
