Curbside Service To Be Available for Disability Plates and Placards in Jeffco

Jefferson County Clerk’s office will offer appointments for people with disabilities

JEFFERSON COUNTY, COLO. – In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day on May 21st, the Jefferson County Clerk’s office will launch a new curbside option for accessibility-related DMV services at their Golden office. Customers with a disability can now get new license plates or placards, or renew them, without leaving their vehicle.

“People with disabilities, injuries, and other mobility conditions depend on transportation options that let them be mobile, independent, and active. Making the DMV more accessible is critical to that,” said Amanda Gonzalez, Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder. “Government should welcome and work for all its people, and we’ll continue to innovate in how we deliver our services to the community to meet those needs.”

Appointments for curbside service are required and should be made online at DriveJeffcoCO.gov or by calling 303-271-8100. Since most of the accessible services require documentation from a medical provider, customers will need to send completed forms ahead of their appointment and follow instructions in the confirmation email about where to park and how to initiate the appointment on-site.

The service will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., only at the DMV location at 100 Jefferson Parkway in Golden. Only Jefferson County residents can use Jeffco DMV services.

“We’re proud to prioritize access and inclusion in all our departments, from motor vehicles to elections,” said Gonzalez. “We work hard every day to make sure that every resident is able to fully participate in our lively Jeffco community.”

The Jefferson County Clerk & Recorder’s Office is dedicated to making government and the democratic process work for all of Jeffco. From providing friendly vehicle registration services to issuing marriage licenses to administering free and fair elections, the Jeffco clerk’s staff is building a community that welcomes and works for everyone.
