Tales of a Metal Fisherman
The book is being published by Nantucket E-Books, operated by Boulder County native Nicholas Bernhard. Nicholas Bernhard is an expert on Boulder County’s coal-mining history, and wrote the historical novel November in America, based on the 1927 coal-miner’s strike in Lafayette and Erie.
The Colorado-based publisher is dedicated to making the best e-books on the planet. Tales of a Metal Fisherman is the first fiction title to be published on the platform. The e-book edition will feature cutting-edge interactivity, including dark mode, note-taking, text resizing, and intuitive navigation. These features will make Tales of a Metal Fisherman an incredible reading experience on any device.
Nantucket E-Books is dedicated to making e-books more accessible, and breaking down the barriers between authors and readers. The e-books feature no DRM whatsoever, and use only freedom-respecting, open-source software.
In February, Nantucket E-Books released Small Things: The Poetry of Allie Flint, collecting the works of Lafayette, Colorado poet laureate Allie Flint in book form for the first time. The book may be read for free at nantucketebooks.com/allieflint
Tales of a Metal Fisherman centers on the “Captain”, a hard-living repo man, stealing cars from those who have defaulted on their payments. Each chapter is a story in the Captain’s life, as he finds ingenious ways to catch his “metal fish”, while outwitting their furious drivers. The stories are fast-paced, irreverent, and bursting with originality, inspired by the classic adventures of pulp magazine scribes such as Robert Bloch.
Author Buffalo Beck is the owner of Buffalo’s Last Stand, a souvenir shop in Cope, and eastern Colorado’s premier book store. The stories in the book were inspired by the real-life adventures of a repo man he knew. He is also a contributor to Quarter Up, a popular online pinball and arcade newsletter that premiered last year.
The book launch will be held at Buffalo’s Last Stand, on Main Street in Cope, Saturday, March 18th, at 3 PM. The event will include a live reading from the book, with refreshments and Buffalo’s famous “buffins” being served.
We are selling a very limited run of twenty autographed copies for $19.99 apiece. Unsigned copies will be $14.99. The e-book is available for $4.99, and looks great on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops.
The book features a cover by artist Chris Jacobs.
