Money Can’t Buy the Top Line

Multi-millionaire Jared Polis has dropped about $3.7 million of his own money into his campaign to become the Democrat nominee for Colorado’s second Congressional District, one of the most expensive primaries in history. The winner—between Polis, State Sen. Joan Fitz-Gerald and Will Shafroth—is expected to be a shoo-in in the Boulder-centric district. Despite the robust wallet, Polis is second fiddle heading into the Aug. 12 primary. At the district assembly, Fitz-Gerald took a majority, meaning her name will appear on the top line of the ballot.

What’s Next: Top line be damned; we expect this race to get ugly with tons of money and attention flocking toward it.
