Garage rock brother/sister two-piece White Mystery (not White Stripes) play Riot Fest at the end of August, so we spoke to Miss Alex White.G

Yellow Scene: When did the band form and what was the mission?

Alex White: White Mystery was founded on April 20, 2008, with a mission to go where no band has gone before.

YS: Describe the sound…

AW: It’s definitely hi-energy rock ‘n’ roll. Main influences are the MC5, T-Rex, the Cramps, and Tina Turner.

YS: Are you looking forward to Riot Fest?

AW: Yeah. This will be the third or fourth White Mystery at Riot Fest event. Our first time was opening for Weezer when Riot Fest was still indoors, in clubs. That was our first experience playing. This will be our first time playing Riot Fest in Denver.

YS: What can we expect from your set?

AW: You can expect a set that will rock you and shock you.

YS: When Riot Fest is over, what’s next?

AW: Riot Fest in Denver will be proceeded by a whole West Coast tour, and then followed by Riot Fest in Chicago, then we are headed to our first Australian tour in October. We’re working on that. We just out out a film called That was Awesome – it’s like a psychedelic comedy that we wrote and also soundtracked. That is premiering in London in October. So a lot of global events. White Mystery plays Denver Riot Fest; August 28-30; riotfest.org/denver.
