Holmes found guilty in Aurora theater shooting

Earlier today, it was announced a verdict was reached in the Aurora theater shooting trial. At 4:15 p.m., the verdict of the fate of James Holmes was read at the Arapahoe County Justice Center in Centennial.E

The jury found Holmes guilty of murder in the first degree for each of the 12 victims.

July 20 marks the three-year anniversary of the shooting, which happened at Aurora Century 16 during the midnight premiere of the third Batman installment, The Dark Knight Rises. Twelve people were killed, and 70 injured, as Holmes opened fire on two different theaters.

Holmes is eligible for the death penalty.
