Community Contribution:

Boulder County Colorado – The East County Housing Opportunity Coalition, and Together Colorado have teamed up to provide a candidate survey to Commissioner Candidates, Elaina Shively and Ashley Stolzman on two important issues – mental health and affordable housing. As non-profit organizations, neither organization will endorse a candidate but wanted to make the public aware of the candidate’s responses to questions about these important community issues. The public is invited to review the candidate responses to the questionnaires which can be found here.

Elaina Shively:
County commissioners have an important role as both the board of the County Housing Authority and the designated agency to provide mental health services. We encourage the public to review the responses from the candidates to our questionnaire. The East County Housing Opportunity Coalition envisions people having access to affordable, quality housing in the communities in which they work, study, and play. The unjust systems that prevent this are only altered by working together and demanding change. ECHO strives to bring people together to educate and empower our communities so this can become a reality. We work in the communities of Louisville, Lafayette, Erie, Longmont, and Superior.

Ashley Stolzman:
Together Colorado is a statewide community organization leading a faith and race solidarity movement. We unlock the power of people through faith driven community organizing to bring human dignity to the center of public life. We have a radical commitment to developing, training, and equipping leaders to build power to effectively dismantle systems of structural racism and re-build the beloved community. We aspire to make the way for a Colorado where everyone has a safe, sustainable place to call home and has the health care they need, when they need it at a price they can afford.
