About: Wira is a long time Boulder County multi-media artist. She retired from the University of Colorado Boulder as an Art/Art History Advisor and is now a full-time artist. Currently she sits on the board as a member of the Longmont Artists’ Guild.
She enjoys plein air (outdoor) painting using oils and acrylics. Much of the exhibit displayed at the Walnut Gallery are plein air paintings of Boulder County and views of Longs Peak. Recently she has been working on a series of Ukrainian floral traditional head wreaths. One of the works exhibited is that of a young Ukrainian woman wearing a traditional head wreath.
Wira’s parents were born in Ukraine and immigrated to the West soon after WWII.. She has cousins that still alive in Ukraine in the Lviv area. Proceeds from the sale of her works will go to help Ukraine medical/ambulance services and feeding abandoned animals there.
