Billy Corgan (WPC)
at Boulder Theater

It would be easy to dismiss “Aeronaut” as just another maudlin pop ballad—complete with requisite piano-and-string accompaniment—if it weren’t for the way Billy Corgan’s trademark, pinched warble creates just enough edge to set the hook firmly in your ear. The Smashing Pumpkins frontman’s second solo outing, Ogilala (Martha’s Music/BMG, 2017) drops in October, just in time for you to discover how powerful Aeronaut ends up being, thanks in no small part to Corgan’s (billed as William Patrick Corgan on this project) collaboration with famed producer Rick Rubin. Catch him Oct. 29 at the Boulder Theater at 7 p.m.

Tickets start at $55, bouldertheater.com for more information.

Kessel Run at Fox Theatre

If we’re being completely honest, the only reason I’d stop to mention Kessel Run is because their name caught my eye. It the same reason I fell in love with Save Ferris 20 years ago. But Kessel Run’s no ska band —more lo-fi emo-ish—and I have no idea how many parsecs it’s going to take them to complete their journey. The “James Sunderland EP boasts, “all instruments, vocals, recording, mixing, and  artwork done by sean langan,” along with the quote “just trying to make u feel stuff,” on the bandcamp page (kesselrunco.bandcamp.com), so check ‘em out at the Fox Theatre with Casino Effect and The Malai Llama on Nov. 3 at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12+., foxtheatre.com for more information.

Return to the Twilight Zone at Theater Company of Lafayette

It is the dimension of imagination—known as The Twilight Zone—and it’s another great spooky-themed show to keep your Halloween spirit soaring all month long. The original ‘Zone aired from 1951 through 1964, and was revived again from 1985 through 1989, providing ample guest star opportunities for just about every famous name in the biz. Now, however, it’s time to catch it live. The Theater Company of Lafayette presents Return to the Twilight Zone—a parody lampooning your favorite Twilight Zone episodes, but live and on stage. Twilight Zone runs Friday and Saturday evenings from Oct. 27 through Nov. 18, with additional matinees and a few Thursday performances.

Mary Miller Theater, 300 E Simpson Street, Lafayette, 720.209.2154, www.tclstage.org.
